SafeTread & SoftTread Anti-Slip Coatings

Safe Tread and Soft Tread are non-skid safety coatings designed to enhance traction and create a slip-resistant surface on various hard flooring materials. The anti-slip characteristics of these products result from formulas that combine a single-component, water-based resin with small, traction-enhancing granules. Available in 16 attractive colors, Safe Tread and Soft Tread are proudly produced in the USA.
Both Safe Tread and Soft Tread are similar versions of the same non-slip floor coating. They are non-flammable, water-based products that can be applied to most hard flooring surfaces. The primary difference between the two products lies in the composition of the anti-slip “grit” particles used to improve traction and reduce the risk of slips and falls.
Safe Tread employs inert hard acrylic bits to create its anti-slip texture, while Soft Tread utilizes soft recycled rubber particles for the same function, making it less abrasive to bare skin. These environmentally friendly coatings are extremely durable and designed to adhere to most substrates. They are easy to apply and offer excellent abrasion and chemical resistance.
Both Safe Tread and Soft Tread are intended for use on walking and driving surfaces, proving equally effective in wet or dry conditions. They are highly resistant to weather, wear, and impact, making these anti-slip coatings suitable for a wide range of applications.
They are commonly used to reduce the risk of slips and falls in marine, residential, and aquatic applications, as well as in a wide variety of commercial and industrial environments. Soft Tread is recommended for pool decks and similar surfaces that experience regular barefoot traffic, while Safe Tread is best suited for industrial applications where the extra abrasiveness will not come into contact with human skin. Both Safe Tread and Soft Tread products contain no VOCs and are odorless. Typical applications of two coats of Safe Tread or Soft Tread cover an area of 80 to 100 square feet per gallon. For high-traffic areas, an optional third coat can be applied; however, with three coats, the typical coverage rate is reduced by about one-third.
Unlike epoxies, both Safe Tread and Soft Tread remain flexible after curing, making the installation chip- and impact-resistant. These durable products resist wear from foot traffic as well as light forklift and automotive traffic. If any wear occurs, simply clean the affected area and recoat it.
This product can be rolled or sprayed on, and no expensive equipment or complex tools are needed for application. For best results, using a special Foam Roller or a Hopper Gun is recommended. These coatings dry to the touch in about one hour and can be fully cured and ready for use in as little as 24 hours.
Safe Tread and Soft Tread can be applied to wood, concrete, metal, fiberglass, plastic, rubber, vinyl, and other types of materials. For optimal results, the subsurface should be coated with a primer before the main coating is applied. On very smooth surfaces, it is recommended to lightly sand or etch the area to ensure proper adhesion.
