SofTile AP, also known as DuraStrong Rubber Decking Tile is the industry leader in rubber deck surfacing. This 24-inch square interlocking tile is available in multiple thicknesses.

SofSurfaces utilizes a proprietary three-stage compression molding process, a patented method that sets it apart from any other manufacturing system in the industry. While other processes typically use a single-stage, “top to bottom” compression method, SofTile AP – DuraStrong compresses each tile from three different directions. This ensures maximum quality and exceptional durability, supported by a ten-year limited warranty.

The unique compression process allows the product’s top “wear layer” to be molded to a significantly higher density than the softer cushioning layers beneath.

SofTile AP – DuraStrong’s engineered hollow-core impact pedestals incorporate an array of interdependent, resilient shock absorbers, providing superior fall-height protection. This design enables the top surface to meet extremely durable standards without compromising the system’s resilient properties and exceptional safety characteristics.

For more than 30 years, the unique KrosLock edge locking system has been the cornerstone of SofTile AP- DuraSafe as well as all other rubber tiles and pavers produced by this manufacturer. Over the past two decades, continuous advancements have been made to the interlocking KrosLock design technology. When properly installed, the system remains tight, secure, and vandal-resistant through years of heavy use.

Environmental factors such as temperature cycles, wind, rain, and snow can impact the performance of any playground safety surfacing product. During typical temperature fluctuations, rubber decking tiles can expand and contract by as much as 2%, potentially leading to shifting and separation in some cases.

To combat this environmental stress, a sophisticated installation procedure has been developed to ensure that SofTile AP – DuraStrong Rubber Decking tiles perform as intended for many years. This procedure includes tile compression and the strategic application of adhesive to the interlocking edge tabs and the base of the tiles.

SofTile AP – DuraStrong products are made from recycled tire rubber, combined with specially formulated binding agents. A state-of-the-art automated production system molds these materials into high-density, resilient interlocking safety tiles. SofTile AP-DuraStrong’s built-in hollow pedestal design provides the cushioning and impact absorption that distinguishes it from other rubber playground tiles. When installed outdoors, these pedestals also allow for superior multi-directional drainage.

SofTile AP-DuraStrong is available in a variety of pigmented and premium colors. The pigmented rubber surface particles used in the SofTile Plus series create an attractive, solid-colored surface that is highly slip-resistant, whether wet or dry.

In 2020, a revolutionary new “Skinned” color process was introduced. Unlike the previously used premium granular version, this method bonds colored virgin rubber EPDM sheets to the recycled rubber tile body. This manufacturing technique promises improved color consistency and superior durability compared to the granular process.
