Premium Shredded Grade Rubber Mulch

Rubber Mulch is made from recycled tire rubber and comes in several sizes and grades.
Our premium, shredded grade material ranges in size, from 1/2" to 1.5". There is usually a mixture of particle sizes in any batch. The rubber particles have a flat, flake shape, similar to that of the premium wood mulch materials.
This material is commonly used as for landscaping applications, but it can also be used in playgrounds and for equine applications. The manufacturing process for this grade of material insures that there are no fibers or metal wire in the mix. Shredded rubber mulch is available in uncolored black or color-coated versions.
Our Rubber Mulch suppliers color the raw black rubber nuggets with special, non-toxic pigments, that reduce the buildup of heat and protect against sun damage.

Color options include bright playground colors such as red, green or blue along with natural-looking earth tones. Muti-color versions blend the various colors together.
For landscape applications, a two to three inch layer of mulch is typical. When used in playgrounds, a four to six inch layer of this material is recommended. Most states require a minimum of six inches of coverage in any public play area, such as a park, school or regulated day care facility. In backyard playgrounds, a four inch layer is usually fine.
Rubber mulch does not decompose, the way that woodchips or organic mulch will, so this material does not have to be replaced for many years, whether used in playground or landscaping applications.
The premium, shredded grade of rubber mulch lays flat and is comfortable to walk on in bare feet. This material makes a great walking surface when used on paths and walkways. In this application, the mulch reduces erosion, retains moisture, keeps the soil cool and helps to keep the dust down. Other landscape applications include use as a weed barrier around trees or shrubs.
