SafeLock Interlocking Playground Tile
[one-half-first]
SafeLock Interlocking Playground Tiles are made in the USA from recycled tire rubber. This rubber flooring product is designed for use as a safety surface in playgrounds but it also makes an excellent resilient flooring material for use on decks or patios.
One of the best features of this product is its hidden interlocking edge system. The robust interlocking tabs on the SafeLock tiles are the wider, deeper and stronger than those found on other types of rubber tiles that feature hidden interlocking edges.
These high-density interlocking tabs are more than adequate to hold the tiles together when used in indoor applications where the temperature stays constant. For outdoor applications, changes in temperature can result in significant expansion and contraction of the rubber. This can cause the interlocks to loosen over time. For this environment it is recommended that a small amount of adhesive be used to keep the interlocking edges tightly connected.

SafeLock Interlocking Playground Tiles are 24" x 24" squares. They come in four thickness options with certified fall height ratings ranging from four to ten feet. For applications that do not require a certified fall-height rating such as decking, patios or walking surfaces, a 1.5" version is available. The 1.5" product has not been tested for impact absorption and does not have a fall-height rating.
SafeLock is also available in two surface options. The Buffing-Top tiles are covered with a layer of small rubber buffings which have been coated with a colored pigment. The premium colored surface option uses solid-colored EPDM rubber granules which create a more vibrant and wear resistant color layer.
The unique base design incorporates special "tunnel" technology which provides maximum strength for the wear surface and compression cavity walls. The SafeLock design uses high density material in the compression areas. This feature improves stability and enhances durability.
SafeLock Interlocking Playground tiles can be installed over any firm, flat subsurface. This includes hard surfaces such as concrete or asphalt or on top of a compacted aggregate base. When installed over compacted aggregate, a layer of landscape fabric must be installed prior to setting the tiles in place.
