Soft Tread & Safe Tread Non-slip Floor Coatings
Safe Tread and Soft Tread Non-slip Coatings
[one-half-first]
Safe Tread and Soft Tread are non-skid safety coatings designed to improve traction and create a slip resistant surface on a variety of hard flooring surfaces. The anti-slip characteristics of these products are the result of formulas which combine a single component water-based resin with small, traction-enhancing granules. This product is available in 16 attractive colors. Safe Tread and Soft Tread are proudly produced in the USA.
Safe Tread and Soft Tread are similar versions of the same non-slip floor coating. Both are non-flammable and water based products that can be applied to most hard flooring surfaces. The primary difference between the two product is the makeup of the anti-slip "grit" particles that are used to improve traction and reduce the risk of slips and falls.
Safe Tread uses inert hard acrylic bits to create its anti-slip texture. Soft Tread uses soft recycled rubber particles to perform the same function while being less abrasive to bare skin. These environmentally friendly coatings are extremely durable and is designed to adhere to most substrates. They are easy to apply and have excellent abrasion and chemical resistance.
Both Safe Tread and Soft Tread are designed for use on walking and driving surfaces. They are equally effective in wet or dry conditions. Both are extremely weather, wear, and impact resistant. These anti-slip coatings have many useful applications.

They are commonly used to reduce the risk of slips and falls in marine, residential and aquatic applications as well as a wide variety of commercial or industrial environments. Soft Tread is recommended for pool decks and similar surfaces that receive regular barefoot traffic. Safe Tread is best for industrial applications in locations which the extra abrasiveness will not come in contact with human skin.
The Safe Tread and Soft Tread products contain no VOC’s and are odorless. Typical, two-coat Safe Tread or Soft Tread applications share a spread rate is 80 to 100 square feet per gallon. For high traffic areas an optional third coat can be applied. With three coats the typical coverage rate is reduced by about 1/3.
Unlike epoxies, both Safe Tread and Soft Tread remain flexible after they cure, making the installation chip and impact resistant. These durable products resist wear from foot traffic as well as light forklift and automotive traffic. If some wear does occur, simply clean the affected area and recoat the worn spot.
This product can be rolled or sprayed on. No expensive equipment or complex tools are required to apply the product. For best results, the use of the special Foam Roller or a Hopper Gun is recommended. These coatings dry to the touch in about one hour and can be fully cured and ready for use in as little as 24 hours.
Safe Tread and Soft Tread can be applied to wood, concrete, metal, fiberglass, plastic, rubber, vinyl, and other types of materials. For best results the subsurface should be coated with a primer before the coating is applied. For very smooth surfaces, it is recommended that the area be lightly sanded or etched to ensure proper adhesion.
